CV of Dr. Kita Sallabanda MD. Ph.D., and career path
Dr. Kita Sallabanda’s CV, recently appointed President of the European Society of Neurosurgery, is a dazzling journey into the vast continent that is Neurosurgery and Radiosurgery, whose journey continues and continues since the 1980s, when he started. He is an eminence in this area, recognized worldwide.
In his research work he has obtained awards such as “Comparative of ventriculo-peritoneal and lumbo-peritoneal shunts in normotensive hydrocephalus (NHT) in adults”, awarded as the best work of the Congress.
He is also responsible for the book “Radiosurgery, fundamentals, technological advances, indications and results”, published in collaboration with the Complutense University of Madrid.
The book, which is now in its 2nd edition, includes the participation of numerous professionals in addition to himself, and is an essential text on the subject.
As for his pedagogical and teaching work, Dr. Kita is the Director of the Master in Central Nervous System Radiosurgery of the Complutense University of Madrid for the sixth consecutive year (2017-2023), of the School of Radiosurgery of the SENEC and holds the position of President of the Spanish Society of Neurosurgery.
And also, during the year 2023 he directs the 2nd edition of the course “School of Radiosurgery” held in the month of March in Granada, by the hand of SENEC, the Spanish Society of Neurosurgery.
His awards and recognition are not limited to professional ones. Dr. Kita holds the Gold Medal of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Spain and the Encomienda de Orden de Mérito Civil. And, for some time he was Consul of Spain in Tirana.
In 2023 he has been unanimously appointed as president of the SRS section of the EANS, European Society of Radiosurgery.
Academic background of Dr. Kita Sallabanda
Like all medical specialists, he graduated in General Medicine and did his residency in the area of Neurosurgery in his home country and in Barcelona. His medical degree was awarded with honors.
During this period he took a further step in his specialization, which led him from Neurosurgery to Stereotactic Radiosurgery, which he performed at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm.
In addition, during these years he took the opportunity to carry out academic work on Syringomyelia.
